Sheryl Colaur is a former teacher, dedicated to serving children in her daily activity. A native to the Chicagoland area, Sheryl taught K-6 Music in District U-46 in Elgin, IL before taking a position with Scholastic. Within this new role, she worked with schools and districts to improve student literacy achievement, access to books, and family & community engagement. Sheryl served Oklahoma and Arkansas schools for several years, and she has been chosen as a speaker for various conferences and news spotlights around Early Childhood, English/Language Arts, and Instruction. Sheryl secured the Senior Account Executive designation in June of 2015. In October of the same year, Sheryl moved to Texas in order to work with in-state schools. She recently joined Turnitin, an educational writing technology provider, and her focus has taken a new direction toward writing achievement. Sheryl feels compelled to give back from her work around family and community engagement, and that is what brings her to take a strong interest in Irving ISD and the Irving Schools Foundation.
