First, we awarded $598 to Maria Segovia, a Science teacher from Singley Academy. Through this grant, Ms. Segovia will be able to attend a virtual Science Olympiad BootCamp, a conference designed to help coaches of this event learn more about preparing their team, organizing practices, and finding resources. The committee was so moved by Ms. Segovia’s commitment to science education, Spark Tank is also providing funding for her to purchase a Science Olympiad curriculum so her high school students can share their love of science with students at the elementary level. Thank you for sharing your passion with us, Ms. Segovia!
Lively Elementary was awarded $9512 to send a team of 6 staff members to visit the Ron Clark Academy in Atlanta, Georgia and attend the HouseMania conference to continue implementation of the House Systems. The campus staff reported that this initiative has proven to be an integral part of their campus over the past year, with such notable impacts as a decrease in student office referrals, positive shifts in student and staff culture, and increases in student achievement. We can’t wait to hear about the conference and all that you learned!
