Patty Brauer has been a board member of the Irving Schools Foundation for 6 years. “I hope to continue offering my time and efforts to make the community of Irving prosper.”
Patty says the way she found ISF was a little surprising. She recalls the impressive moment when Jesus Monroy invited her to join. After living in Irving for almost 30 years, Patty had never heard of the foundation. It wasn’t until she learned about the schools in Irving and the strength of the community that she decided that she wanted to be a part of the impact.
Since joining ISF, her favorite memory continues to be the first time she helped at the Breakfast with the Stars event. “Watching all of the students receive their scholarships and their parents getting emotional warmed my heart. This moment inspired me to want to help more.”
Patty has welcomed 2021 with new goals and aspirations on her journey with the foundation. This year, she looks forward to helping the Irving Schools Foundation grow for the whole community. She hopes we find more volunteers and expand our impact to more teachers and students in need.
Patty says that ISF has impacted her the most through the yearly retreats. She appreciates the CEO’s (Crystal Scanio) and her team’s efforts to the Board of Directors.
In light of the new year, Patty hopes to continue forward pursuing her volunteer roles. She hopes this year gives ISF the possibility of returning to its normal events so that she can offer her time to a valuable cause. She also looks forward to volunteering more with the Food for Thought Program.
In her personal time, Patty is also a part of the group AHOra. When all returns to normality, part of her 2021 goal is to expand her event decoration business to staging for realtors.
Fun Fact: Patty read “Twilight” in four days! That’s 498 pages!
